Subscription Service Preview For Apple News Found In iOS 12.2 Beta

A sample of a subscription service for Apple News was discovered in iOS 12.2 developer build by media this week, and the service will provide access to magazines and newspapers for a monthly charge. The pictures align with report from The New York Times last October that claimed that Apple is close to rolling out its personal subscription service within the News application, and it develops on Apple’s acquirement of Texture, digital magazine subscription service that was billed in 2018 as the “Netflix of magazines.”

The splash page displays that the subscription service may be dubbed as “Apple News Magazines,” and transaction will be managed via the iTunes store. There is no costing data or any kind of expected roll out date yet. However, Texture’s service provided a subscription for $9.99 per month to 200 magazines from chief publishers, comprising The New Yorker and Time.

Apple has also been speculated to be operating on an omnipresent subscription service that packs its magazine and news service with Apple Music as well as its original video content, per a media report.

On a related note, Facebook earlier declared to spend an extra $4.5 Million towards assisting the news sector all over the world. The social media behemoth, that clocked over $5 Billion in the quarter two this year in profit, claimed that it will offer $3.5 Million towards “Facebook Membership Accelerator.” This is a three-month pilot program developed to assist news bodies with membership models.

“We are going to carry on to educate the bunch of metro news publishers using the pilot program, and we will reassemble with them next year to aim on retention of subscribers,” claimed Global Head of News at Facebook, Campbell Brown, to the media in an interview. Facebook also declared to add almost $1 Million to the “NewsMatch” campaign.
