A new leader of the Walmart India to guide the company to ultimate success has been appointed. Sameer Aggarwal has been declared as the Chief Business Officer and Anuj Singh is appointed as the Head of Category Merchandising. This breaking news followed the report of the resignation of Devendra Chawla, who was the executive vice president and chief operating officer of merchandising, marketing, and e-commerce of Walmart India. Chawla had joined the company from Future Consumer Enterprise, a part of Future Group led by Kishore Biyani. He quit Walmart in order to be a part of other opportunities lying outside Walmart, as a future perspective, said the personage himself.
The next move from the company was therefore to promote Sameer Aggarwal, who joined the company in April 2018 and was formerly the employee value proposition, chief strategy as well as administrative officer and chief business officer with immediate effect. In the due course of his new position, Sameer Aggarwal will now head planning, product valuation, finance, and cost analysis, promoting e-commerce, and technology, designing marketing strategy and replenishment, as mentioned by Walmart.
The entire detail of the company’s management is to be directly reported to the President and CEO of Walmart India, Mr. KrishIyer by the new chief business officer.
Aggarwal has had an experience as the chief finance, development, and supply chain officer for Kentucky Chicken Fried (KFC) in Thailand. He also has Sainsbury’s in UK and China and McKinsey & Co, UK and Australia, as a private associate, added to his resume. He earns a degree from London Business School and is registered as a fellow member in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as well.
Ajay Singh, on the other hand, will head the company regarding its merchandise planning and execution, category merchandising, and development of private brands. He is answerable for the entire documentation to Sameer Aggarwal. He holds an experience of about 23 years in top-notch consumer goods company in India, the Middle East, and Europe. He was appointed as Business Executive Officer in Nestlé’s Food Services business in the South Asia Region. He was also tied up with the premier companies like Philip Morris International, ITC Limited and Asian Paints, and Hindustan Lever Limited.
It is the hard work and loyalty of the two personalities for which they have been appointed as the lead of the company, says the CEO and President, Krish Iyer.
